How can I prepare?
If you’ve got a theater headshot & resume to bring, great. No biggie if not. If you’ve got a monologue to deliver (comedic preferred), great. No biggie if not. Come ready to have fun, read and act out scenes from the script (provided) and improvise with other auditioners.

The juror is Sonya Evanisko, Professor of Art and Coordinator of the Painting & Drawing program in the Department of Contemporary Art & Theater at Shepherd University. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana. She exhibits work regionally and nationally. Her work is inspired by the beauty she finds in her garden and in nature. She is also actively involved in the Shepherdstown community. The work of her painting students brightens the Shepherd University campus and the town of Shepherdstown.
The exhibit is open to all artists over the age of 18 residing in any of the 8 counties of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, including Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan and Pendleton counties. The theme for the exhibit is open. Works in any medium or technique, in 2- or 3-dimensions, abstract, representational or non-representational subject matter are welcome. Entries must be original works of art that have been completed within the last 3 years and have not been exhibited previously at the Berkeley Art Works.
The entry fee is $40 for the first two works. Artists may submit one or two additional works for $10 each, for a maximum of four works. Accepting submissions for “Dance of the Nipples” an exhibition responding to Breast Cancer awareness month. This exhibition invites artists and individuals who have been personally affected by breast cancer—including those currently undergoing treatment, in recovery, in remission or survivors of breast cancer. Caregivers, family members, friends, and loved ones are also welcome to apply.
We recognize that breast cancer informs each individual differently and want to acknowledge the voices and perspectives of those affected. Artists of all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to apply. Whether you are sharing your own journey, honoring someone you love, documenting the role of caregiving, or exploring the broader social and cultural impacts of breast cancer, we invite you to contribute to this collective conversation. XoXo Gallery is a curatorial initiative, not exclusive to the Goxxip Girl Collective, meaning anyone and everyone is eligible to apply to our open calls regardless of gender.

The Appalachian Pastel League offers a workshop to members and non members 4 times a year on a Saturday, Noon til 4PM at the Allegany Arts Council. Easels will be provided, bring your own paper and supplies. Non-members are welcome to attend. Cost: Paid members, free. Non-members-$24. The dues for membership to the League are $24 a year. You may apply for membership at the door and have access to all four workshops for the year, at no additional cost.

Frostburg State University, College of Arts, Humanities, and Social & Behavioral Sciences seeks up to two part-time Adjunct Lecturers to teach courses in Art & Design at its partner institution, the Hunan University of Technology and Business (Changsha, Hunan Province, China) in the Fall Semester, beginning September 2024. Courses will be delivered on-site over an eight-week term. (Firm dates for the assignment to be shared when available.) We are specifically seeking applicants with interest and experience in teaching Graphic Design and Sculpture. An opportunity to teach other studio art and design courses in China may also be available on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Requirements: M.F.A. or Master’s degree in a related field and previous teaching experience are required.

Maryland Art Place (MAP), in partnership with Hotel Indigo is pleased to announce an
open ‘Call to Artists’. As an extension of MAP’s annual IMPACT public art partnership
projects, MAP is working with Hotel Indigo to offer rotating exhibitions in Hotel indigo’s
library and Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats. This opportunity is available to visual artists
living or working in Maryland. Maryland Art Place will curate four exhibitions a year
based on submissions entered through a rolling basis.
Hotel Indigo, Baltimore Downtown is a boutique hotel located in Baltimore, MD. MAP
has been working closely with the hotel since it opened, selecting and installing the
hotel’s permanent artwork collection including works by Jared Ragland, Gary
Kachadourian and Christos Palios. Hotel Indigo and MAP share the same vision of
supporting working artists in the region, and both look forward to their continued
partnership and the rotation of quarterly exhibitions. For more information,

What if someone created an after-school program that takes an active approach to meeting the social and emotional needs of the students?
Using a trauma informed lens, led by the Director of Education at Bester Community of Hope, we are creating a three-tiered approach that aims to build character, improve academic abilities and live a healthy lifestyle at
Bester Elementary School and E. Russell Hicks Middle School.
We will use an evidence based SEL curriculum, integration of competencies in daily activities, and ongoing staff development to create and implement a trauma responsive after-school program.
We understand that meeting student’s needs is not a one size fits all endeavor. We are creating various unique opportunities for students to learn and grow based on their individual interest. Students will be involved in project-based learning that teaches real life skills. We will also have a service-learning component that helps students explore ways to improve their school and give back to their community. We believe the best learning is done without realizing it’s taking place!
Some examples of enrichment activities are: Photography, Videography, STEM, Technology, Jewelry Making, homemade Soap making, T-shirt and Accessory Creation, Sewing, Origami, Keyboard and Guitar Lessons, Fitness, Yoga, Nutrition and Team Sports.
